International Women's day is celebrated each year on 8th March.

International Women's Day has been celebrated on March 8th all over the world for nearly a hundred years. In some countries it is a national holiday and it is recognised by the United Nations. It is an opportunity to look back on the achievements of women and forward to even greater progress. In Harlow we have celebrated the day for about thirty years in various ways. In some years we have had special events involving many people, but in other years it has been a much smaller occasion with fewer people involved.

Last year was an exceptionally successful event, held at The Playhouse. There were displays in the Studio Theatre, which included Egyptian dancing, the CALM Centres choir, yoga and African dancing. In other areas of the Playhouse there were numerous stalls with information, refreshments, and items for sale. There was also alternative therapies and music in the bar area.

We are about to commence planning the next event on 8th March 2008. Keep an eye on this website to see updates on the upcoming event.
